Project Description

Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) engages and supports people to shift norms, change behaviors, and amplify the voices needed to address the persistent development challenges the world faces today:The 2019 Social and Behavior Change Communication Conference focusing on francophone Africa, is organized to better understand what works in shifting social norms, changing behaviors and in amplifying the voice of those who have most at stake in the success of development efforts. The conference will take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast between 25 and 27 February.

The More than Brides Alliance will present their successful work creating a safe and non-violent space for young people to discuss sexual reproductive health and rights . In Mali, communication on sexual health issues between parents and children is very limited because of traditional practices that limit intergenerational exchanges and children’s participation in decision-making. To inform and empower young people, well-trained peer educators use fun edutainment methodologies such as slam, dance, theatre to spread information, empower youth and start a dialogue with parents.
